There is no stopping the youngling…

Although December 7th (16 Azar) is symbolized as the birth of the student movement in our country, but today I have chosen to share my thoughts with all my countrymen, as well as our students, as I firmly believe that seeking education and awareness must be the goal of every single one of us all around the world. Not only to support the student movement, but because awareness and education is the only thing that will set all of us and our country free.
I hope that the culture of awareness will replace the culture of denial, the culture of dictatorship, the culture of ignorance, the culture of lies, the culture of power hungriness, the culture of slow disintegration into the abyss, the culture of indifference, and the culture of hopelessness and prejudice.
Maybe the most effective way to support our students is to wake up and educate ourselves; maybe the only way to fuel the growth of the freedom movement is for each and every one of us to undergo a cultural revolution, an uprising against ourselves, a freedom from our own mental prisons, what do you think?
Today, instead of talking about the edification of our students, we only hear about their being banned from continuing their education. For years students all over the world have been facing the chalk board, in our country they are facing the hangman’s noose and the executioner’s riffles, student’s worldwide struggle to succeed, but in our country they struggle to survive. In the past, students carried their books and now they carry their classmate’s coffin.
Why should you lock your lips to unlock the university doors? Why?
Looking back you see nothing but the abyss, looking forward the killing fields!!!???
But I can hear the students’ footsteps…
I am wishing for the day when our students will juggle opportunities instead of limitations and censorships,
I am wishing for the day when the classrooms will welcome our students and not the solitary confinements,
I am wishing for the day when the target is the students’ success not the students themselves,
I am wishing for the day when the hearts and souls of our students thrive on the streets of our country and not in the prison cells,
I am wishing for the day when our students are not victims but the instigators of change and evolution and progress,
I am wishing for the day when we as people seek justice by fighting injustice instead of seeking revenge,
And finally, I am wishing for the day when we as people go from being watchers to fighters, when we go from reacting to acting, and fight with our students, our freedom seekers.
Let us cherish and remember all those students who gave their lives in the fight for freedom, let us be the ever present supporters of those like Majid Tavakoli, Fereshteh Shirazi, Ziya Nabavi, Arya Arya Nejad and all their compatriots and our countrymen who are tirelessly fighting every moment of their lives for freedom, our freedom, let us not just be their voice, but be their true partners, allies, countrymen and compatriot and walk and fight besides them.
In this nightmare, you and I are the kind,
You and I are the north, the south, the east and the west,
Don’t fear the dark; you are the light, aren’t you?
Don’t fear the drought; you are the quenching dew, aren’t you?

<<دانلود>>

My country, My pride, My land...

The gradual drying of Lake Urmia, one of the world’s largest saltwater lakes, is not only a national tragedy, but a social and economic natural resource catastrophe, and a huge international devastation.

Alas, in addition to the demise of lake Urmia, we are witnessing our Esfahani countrymen who are facing the distressing consequences of the drying of Zayande river, along with our hardworking khouzestanis who are dealing with the increased salinity of the Sharb waters, and last but not least the desolation of our countrymen in the south of Teheran being poisoned by the ever increasing infestation of their drinking water. I believe that we all share the social, economical and environmental consequences of these devastating living examples of our natural resources destruction, and as we feel and share the pain of our countrymen, the responsibility of healing these wounds lays on all our shoulders.

The question remains, how can we make the virtual disappearance of our beloved Urmia lake and the honorable and justified uprising and fight of our Azerbaijani countrymen yet another stimulus to encourage our entire country’s fight against other social maladies, including the demise of our natural resources?

If the culprits, if the enemies are known to each and every one of us, if fighting for the survival of our beloved natural resources are truly believed by every one of us to be an integral part of our fight against injustice, torture, execution, and other injustices destroying our country and countrymen, who is responsible to stop these injustices? How can we perpetually be united and ever present in our demand for our human rights?

Petition

By signing and forwarding this statement to all those who believe in the sanctity of our rights, participate in the protection of The human rights of our countrymen.

The United Nations

To The Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon,
Your Excellency
Peaceful and non-violent demonstrations by the citizens of Iran, since 13 June till 29 June 2009, protesting the results of the recent presidential elections, have been brutally suppressed by government agencies. a lots of people have been reportedly killed and thousands detained by the Islamic Republic of Iran for demonstrating peacefully. Even children, who were bystanders, were not spared.
On 12 June 2009 the Ministry of Interior held the 10th Presidential Elections of Iran. Strangely, within hours of the closing of polling stations, the incumbent, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, was announced president. Millions of Iranians who had voted, advocated and petitioned for the leaders of the opposition, Mehdi Karroubi and Mirhossein Mousavi, took to the streets in the next five days to show their dissatisfaction with the announced election results, claming it was rigged. They were all calling for re-elections.
Spontaneous and peaceful protests broke out throughout the country and citizens of all ages participated. Demonstrations were peaceful till disrupted by hired hooligans of the government, who have been repeatedly used on earlier occasions by the Iranian regime to strike fear among dissidents and to justify tougher law enforcement. These hooligans even entered student dormitories in Tehran, Shiraz and Esfahan universities. Communication and information links have been censored. Electronic media used by the protestors were blocked or filtered, like websites, weblogs, and text messaging on telephone networks. Local newspapers have not been able to give accurate information, which has been witnessed by hundreds of thousands of Iranian and the press all over the world. Citizens are being harassed and subjected to searches after dark for no reason.
In light of the current situation, we appeal to the UN to honor the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to which the government of Iran is a party, by:
A. Calling for an investigation of the violation of ARTICLE 5 and ARTICLE 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. (No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment; No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile) by the Islamic Republic of Iran by giving a list of those detained since 13 June 2009 and procedures followed to protect their rights.
B. Holding accountable the Islamic Republic of Iran for violation of ARTICLE 20 [Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association].
C. Holding an Indepent investigation into the rigging of elections on 12 June 2009 by the Islamic Republic of Iran under ARTICLE 21 [(1) Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives. (2) Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country. (3) The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures.]
D. Calling to allow the free-flow of information by respecting the right of citizens to freedom of expression and opinion foreseen in ARTICLE 19 [Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers].
E. Asking the Islamic Republic of Iran to provide equal protection of the law to all its citizens regardeless of political affiliation, according to ARTICLE 7.

Our Ancient Land

The identity of a country is inherent in that of its people and culture.
If we do not see how intermingled the history of our land is with that of our people, we will never succeed in overcoming our obstacles in a quest to reach peace and prosperity.

I have been perplexed and baffled for years as to why no one
believes that what has come of us stems from years of denial,
belittling and suppression of our national identity?
We have seen a complete oversight of the existence and presence of our countrymen in such mottos as “God, King,Country” in the past, and now, the enforcement of the Islamic laws has awarded our country not only with a repeat of this condescending disregard, but also thirty years of utter contempt for our national identity.

Let us not fear the cloudy skies and annihilate the clouds
of denial, and seek to restore our lost national identity.
Let us work hand in hand to resolve our cultural issues and
shortcomings, and move from global fear to global solidarity.
Let us set aside our personal needs and wants, avoid hero
worship, and obliterate our blind prejudices, and stop
burying our glorious history with our own hands.
Let us awaken our inner awareness and consciousness, and
find a comprehensive solution to prevent our history to be
engulfed in a vicious cycle of repetitive mistakes and oversights.

It is indeed our presence, from our silent cries to our upheavals, from our weaknesses to our strengths, Young and old, from any gender and sect, that creates the identity of our precious land.
The history of our glorious country is a testament of the fact
that no abominable power has ever been capable of preventing our capable and compassionate countrymen from achieving success.

Today is the first day of our future and that of our land,
and only we are capable to create our history.
In the space between our hands lies your soul and mine,
Where should we search for that which we have lost?

I am so homesick today…

Nezami Ganjavi - Museum of Azerbaijan's Literary Greats

On my way to Baku, I had a hunch that something was in the air; something was about to happen, I was about to face a phenomenon that I had never experienced before. Two hours and forty five minutes of flying over my country…I can feel the meaning of bewilderment in my heart and soul, and I do not take my eyes off of my land’s exhausted landscape for a second.

Bandar Abbas, Shiraz, Esfehan…
I open the wings of my imagination so that it can fly wherever its little heart desires. Strange times we live in! Once, when I was in Iran, I was struggling to get out, now, outside of my country, it is allowed to go anywhere but home.
Now , we are flying over Tehran, the skies are gloomy and cloudy, the flickering of the little lights are nowhere to be seen, but through these dark and heavy clouds, I can clearly see what goes on in the streets of my land, those alleys brimming with the sweet memories of my childhood and youth.
I have an inexplicable feeling; a part of me is still lingering in this land.
I remember a beautiful poem by Hamid Mossadegh:
Are you listening my beloved?
Do not wish upon a cloud
Do not wish upon rainless clouds
Clouds that are nowhere in sight
If there is any ambition, it lies within you and I
In this drought stricken desert
We can find water in the heart of stones

I find myself lost in my memories, the back alleys of Tehran, the distant memories, the sweet recollections, the failures, bewilderments, infatuations, the bitter sweet times, the unforgettable moments, the silent but oh, so grand memories, souvenirs of the good old times before this strange migration to a foreign land,
So long as the lights are off in my land,
The world turns in mourning,
As rosebud’s blood is dripping from the seconds
As the young carcasses pass through the night…

“The Silent Miracle” Images of love and messages of hope A memorable souvenir from Dariush

After four years of anticipation, Dariush’s new album, “ The Silent Miracle” will be released on January 15, 2009 through DBM Enterprises, established by Dariush himself. A look back at the history of the world of Art in our country depicts repetitive and continuous destructive blows to this entity, especially in the music industry, through abuse, carelessness, censorship, filtering and corruption in the industries in charge of the distribution and sale of music in our society, and artists have been witnessing the pillage of their creations for years.

Dariush is one of the very few artists, who has always been dedicated to his goals, his constructive objectives, and his responsibilities towards his country and his people, not only in his artistic endeavors, but also in his humanitarian deeds. He has always sought to create an avenue for his values and his legacy to present life’s realities and truths to his people. In “The Silent Miracle” once again, Dariush has managed to break the barriers and present us directly, with another one of his magnificent creations, which speaks of our sentiments, our needs, our plight and the realities of our lives.
I love the silent miracle, because its creators are its true owners...
I love the silent miracle, because in a tiny store, it faces a grand Country and kind souls who will support it wholeheartedly with all their might...
