What has happened to us?

The Lebanese philosopher, Gibran Khalil Gibran, describes criticism and denunciation as endemic to Iranians.

What has happened to us? What has happened to this disillusioned and hurt generation, a nation abused and kicked too many times. If we claim to have risen from the generation of the Roc, and reside on the summits of hight mountaintops; then why is it that we either can't, won't, nor know how to open our wings and begin to fly? The notion that we are in actuality lonely bodies does not necessarily have to be true in reality.

Let us transition from slogans to sapience.
Let us gaze into the vast horizons of our future and find the path towards national unity, the path that others should have taken, but did not and abandoned us along the way.
Let us re-evaluate our abilities, our strenghts and our standing. It is now your turn to propose constructive means of tackling this sea of social maladies, to annihilate them one by one, side by side.

I came to U.S 8 years ago and now, I live in Orange County . I am a full time house wife, so I have plenty time to help you in this strive. My husband has been encouraging me to do such volenteer efforts since we have got married. Please let me have a share in what you are doing.

Dear Dariush;

I highly admire your efforts and what you are trying to do for our country and people. What I am saying here is as a friend and I don’t mind if its not published. My humble opinion is that both your articles are made mostly from slogans as well. With all this "Let us..." and beautiful yet general points that you made, I, as a reader, don’t see any theory or specific point of view except a bunch of nice slogans.
Don’t you think you should write more casual and less formal? Try to open up a bit and don’t captivate yourself trying to write nice words and beautiful sentences. What you said is nice, but it has been used and reused so many times by so many people whom are some popular and well known as well. Everybody knows what you say and I bet there is no one in the world that doesn’t agree with it because its common sense and its a text book case of a good thing. Try to walk on a fresh ground, try to break through something. Please read your articles again, do you see ANYTHING new? Isn’t most of it made of slogans? What I see is a very very conservative writer who makes very general points that cannot be criticized. You’ve ended your article with a question; what do you expect to hear from your readers? What have you presented that is debatable? Have you answered your own question? Or I might as well ask CAN you?

Dear Dariush, to be honest, if you are trying to change something through your weblog, it’s not going to work like this. You have to be more specific; however, I think you fear being criticized and/or you fear that you have to change your position later on and you don’t want any written documents. For example, why not write about presidency election in Iran? I bet you do have an opinion on that! Why not write specific about social maladies, or drug use, or prostitution? Why are you keeping your distance from real things and reality and just go into the theory? If you want to make a constructive discussion and change, I think you should reconsider your approach towards how you write here. If you write to just have a weblog and write here and there and make beautiful yet general and unuseful points, then continue your current way.

Best regards
